keeps coming up: s t a n d a r d s. humaness. my subconscious pretentiousness. the unexpected extent and ugliness of suburban-sheltered-goody-goody evil.
we all fall short.

ascend! and memorize.

may the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, o Lord, my Rock and Redeemer! ps 19:14 [ think 'M' words of the first clause "may, mouth, meditations", then think 'R' words of the 2nd clause "Rock, Redeemer"... or just think of the psalm 19 song ]

teach me Your way and i will walk in Your truth. give me an undivided heart that i may fear Your name! ps 86:11 [ hmm... no memory tricks for this one. think, "way, truth, undivided, fear". this was our theme for girls' club way back in the day. think of the psalm 86 song! ]

trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. prov 3:5-6 [no mnemonics for this either. think of the dave reaume song?...]

for the word of God is living and active; sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. heb 4:12 [living, active, sharper, penetrating, judging... aside, separating marrow with a blade would be difficult... hence the power of God's word.]

other than that... so jokingly someone asked why not. and since i'm not witty with the spoken word, or maybe i'm just not familiar enough with the real Word (ouch), my comeback came much later, much too late. the real answer would be, 'because the woman of proverbs 31 is married.' hahaha.
