burp: 2king: would people still name their kid nebuchadnezzar? famine days. so lack of food will weaken. we couldn't fulfill our part of god's covenant that we be fully used by him to bless the nations. but we never walked through the animals cut in half (genesis17). we were punished and exiled to babylon. but god's passion for his name. while we were still sinners christ died (separation from the presence of god) in our place (romans5:8). for his name. so we could live for his name.
things i wanna look up on google now: 7 wonders of the ancient world. boney m "by the rivers of babylon" (disco-ey song).

this weekend's reading: embryology. one living cell multiplies into a morula, then a blastula, and eventually a baby. there must be a creator maintaining this system of order and design. according to rev sperry the most offensive insult is to call someone ignorant. 'call them pagan, they won't care, just don't call someone ignorant.' but the message was that it is common to be ignorant to god, his existence, his holiness, and his wonderful works. lest we be ignorant to his presence.
also this weekend: job offer once i graduate and 6-fig salary. then i "so happened" to start reading jim eliot's bio, which helps put things in perspective. i started to read it only now, after owning the book for 5ish yrs. timely indeed.
more timeliness: jcr's looking for a place to live. es needs a flatmate. maybe they'll live together. weird.
from mgo's retirement party speech: 'all it takes is the right words at the right time and then things can happen.' (not verbatim, but the idea's the same). how true. this life is all about connections, the most important one being with the one who knows us best, who desires to connect with us the most, whose love surpasses understanding.

decisions decisions decisions... ooo!
ehn maybe later: learn nihongo. buy a bass guitar. play organ. bgirlin.
fire still hurts.

anyway.

burp: 2kings17: they worshipped useless idols and became as useless as their idols. kinda like sunda sermon two weeks ago... we get what we put in. if i do things to receive praise from man, then that's what i get. limited satisfaction, not so appealing. but if i do things to honour god, he will honour me. much better.
"for the praises of man i will never ever stand. for the kingdoms of this world i'll never give my heart away or shout my praise. my allegiance and devotion, my heart's desire and all emotion go to serve the man who died upon that tree. only a god like you could be worthy of my praise, all my hope and faith. to only a king of all kings, do i bow my knee and sing, give my everything."

jh is in town. so i can finally meet up w/ sunhiy too. yay! time for fun with jugx's snowboard. sweet.

burp: 2kings10-12ish: baal and company get wiped out. god redeems all for his glory, even if it happens violently. fire hurts.

burp: 2kings9: "jehu got up and went into the house. then the prophet poured the oil on jehu's head and declared, '...as for jezebel, dogs will devour her on the plot of ground at jezreel, and no one will bury her.' then he opened the door and ran."
how's that for a punishment? "dogs will devour her and no one will bury her. [puhahaha.]" maybe it sounds less outrageous in hebrew. "then he opened the door and ran. [gotta jet! smell ya later!]" and maybe that sounds less humourous in hebrew too. or i'm too easily amused. so. this whole passage says there are inescapable consequences to sin. although the law has been fulfilled now by the cross, the ultimate consequence can be avoided, but there are still consequences on earth. on another note, all the prophecies came to being. this freewill/predestination is perplexing.
burp: jn11 the plot to kill jesus. there is so much history behind so few verses, which i don't know or understand. about jewish culture, roman civilization, prophecies. history itself belongs to you.

burp: 2kings6:28-29: "this woman said to me, 'give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.' so we boiled my son, and ate him. and i said to her on the next day, 'give your son, that we may eat him'; but she has hidden her son." [context is a famine]
blech. (or beurk! in french) well, that's a lot of meat for one day, esp if you haven't been eating for a couple days. even if it's a baby, say 20 lbs? minus 10 lbs of bones. so five pounds of meat per woman. that's like the giant burger on food network the other day. you go to this restaurant, and if you eat a 3lb burger in an hour, you get your name on a plaque. but if you do the 6lb, maybe you get a trophy? only in america.
so what is learned from this passage? 1) we should stop eating so much in this country. 2) god's love surpasses all human love, even a mother's love. 3) be more careful as to whose meaty arms to bite :[] .

burp. yeah so i'm behind: 2kings2:23-24. so these kids were making fun of elisha "baldy! baldy!" then he "pronounced a curse on them in the name of the lord. and two she-bears came out of the woods and mauled 42" of them. moral of the story? hmm.. dun mess with the name of the lord. and dun mess with his servants. tru tru.
ran into the grandson and the grandpa again at the bell tower today. sorry i couldn't play. it's cool encountering little kids who don't speak english, like some kind of slavic or scandinavian language. cuuuuute. last time when the dad was there he told me what their ethnicity was...czech or romanian, polish or something? hm.
and imh was right. my hands are unusual. a true hybrid between ma's and ba's. i think guh's hands are more feminine than mine, except for the hairy fingers. ehn.
